Position Overview
At Cyclic Materials, we look for bright, ambitious, innovative team players who enjoy challenges and have a drive to produce results. As a member of the Engineering and Technology team, you will be assisting in the development of our Spoke and Hub facilities. Your duties will encompass all things related to process engineering, including design, commissioning, and continuous improvement of the processes. You will be based in our Toronto office with occasional travel to plant sites and venders. When not traveling, this cohesive team works 4 days a week in-person from our Toronto location.
Reporting to the ProcessEngineering Manager and working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
What you will be doing:
- Lead detailed process engineering activities.
- Develop process descriptions and control philosophies.
- Develop of process engineering diagrams including: BFD, PFD and P&IDs.
- Develop mass and energy balance models in simulation software (SysCAD, METSIM, IDEAS).
- Participate in HAZID and HAZOP reviews.
- Undertake trade-off studies with scoping level CAPEX and OPEX to resolve options.
- Prepare operating cost estimates.
- Assist with equipment sizing, selection and specifications.
- Evaluate materials of construction.
- Assist with package engineering responsibilities such as: data sheets, Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages etc.
- Interface with equipment vendors.
- Analyze and interpret operational data.
- Develop and mentor junior process engineers.
We seek an assortment of skills that would include all or a mix of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering
- Registered or eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer.
- 5 – 10 years of experience as a process engineer for mineral processing and/or hydrometallurgical projects.
- Experience with metallurgical test work for mineral processing or hydrometallurgical projects.
- Experience working across one (or more) of the following commodities: Lithium, Nickel, Cobalt, Copper, Gold, Rare Earths, scrap metal.
- In-depth knowledge of process design and operation.
- Asset: plant operations experience.
- Ability to travel between Canada and the United States.
- Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast paced work environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
- Unit operations knowledge in shredding, milling, leaching, solvent extraction, neutralization, crystallization, IX, dewatering, filtering, electrowinning, etc.
