Cyclic Materials is proud to announce Matt Cherevaty as Chief Operating Officer at a pivotal moment in the company’s growth. A seasoned leader with over 25 years of global experience, Matt brings expertise across mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, electrorefining, pyrometallurgy and chemical manufacturing, helping scale Cyclic Materials' mission to deliver a resilient, circular supply of rare earth elements and critical materials.
Throughout his career, Matt has led landmark projects including the mining industrie's first Cobalt Streaming deal at Voisey’s Bay, the divestment of Vale’s nickel business in New Caledonia, and the creation of multiple mining and processing joint ventures in Indonesia totaling over USD 8 Billion in investments including a three-way partnership with Ford Motor Company and Huayou Cobalt. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President, Operations and Refining at Umicore Battery Cathode Materials, overseeing refining, precursor and cathode manufacturing plants and joint ventures across Europe and Asia.
Matt joins as Cyclic Materials launches its first commercial-scale Spoke in Mesa, Arizona, a Centre of Excellence in Kingston, Ontario and prepares to expand further across North America, Europe, and Asia—unlocking the “above-ground mine” and shaping a local, resilient and circular supply for rare earth elements and other critical materials essential to the clean energy transition.
Matt holds a degree in Geological and Mineral Engineering from the University of Toronto and dual Executive MBAs from the Rotman School of Business and the Universität St. Gallen.
